 Labelling Requirements

To ensure Patient safety and In accordance with NATA/RCPA Medical Testing Requirements, all specimens must be labelled with:

  • Patients Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Time and Date of Collection
  • Samples and request forms for transfusion testing MUST be signed by the collector

 Volumes of Samples

  • Blood collected for Anticoagulant Therapy Monitoring must be collected in a 2.7 ml Sodium Citrate Tube (Blue) and filled to the top of the label.
  • Micro samples clot easily and may lead to inadequate samples.
  • All tubes with additives should be filled to the top of the label on the tube. 

Home Visit Service

Australian Clinical Labs provides a home visiting service for patients that are unable to attend their local Collection Centre for up to 4 weeks. There is no extra charge for this service, for more information please call your local laboratory.
